PNR117 Advanced Life Continuum Nursing
Prepares the student to practice nursing within the legal, ethical and regulatory framework, using the nursing process, and the core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This course integrates theory and practice for the purpose of preparing the student to begin to establish a caring professional identity. Students will practice leadership and management skills in the extended care facility and create a nursing resume to prepare them for entering professional practice. Didactic lectures and various clinical practicum experiences will provide a framework for the student to assimilate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are foundational to the practice of practical nurse. Evidence based knowledge and practice, with sensitivity to social determinants of health and health disparities are emphasized. The student will also identify resources available to the patient in the community, and utilize clinical judgement to provide patient centered care that leads to optimal patient outcomes.
