HRT101 Turfgrass Management
Turfgrass Management is an applied science course that provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles of sustainable turfgrass management. Students will explore the culture and physiology of turfgrass, with a strong emphasis on organic practices for managing insects, diseases, and weed pressure. The curriculum focuses on cool-season turfgrass identification, seeding techniques, and maintenance strategies. Key topics include site assessment, soil textural classes, turfgrass selection, application rates, and developing annual turfgrass management plans for nutrients, and integrated pest management.
Through hands-on activities, students will implement best management practices and apply the concepts learned throughout the course. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to create and maintain healthy, sustainable turfgrass environments.
