IDS102D Popular Culture in the U.S.
This course examines popular culture in its many forms and media in American culture both past and present. Students will learn to assess, explain, and analyze products of popular culture by connecting them with overall cultural values, norms, and ideologies. Issues related to popular culture such as consumerism, mass media, technology, and viewer participation will be explored. Students will learn to become better communicators and interpreters of cultural products. Fulfills open, liberal arts and humanity electives.
