ALH122 Fundamentals of Patient Care
This course will provide students with a foundation of knowledge and skills that are necessary in providing basic patient care within the various health professions. Topics will include: an introduction to the various healthcare professionals and their roles in patient care; vital signs measurements; infection control; body mechanics and patient ambulation/transfer; assistance with Acivities of Daily Living (ADLs), a review of the basic function and care of common catheters, tubes, and lines; and basic medical documentation. (2 hours of lecture and 2 hours of lab per week)
