MAC138 Introduction to the Professional Medical Assistant
This course introduces the medical assisting profession, preparing students for clinical and administrative roles in healthcare. Emphasis is placed on communication, professionalism, cultural competence, and workplace readiness. Students develop skills in communication, time management, and ethical decision-making while learning to address diverse patient needs. Training includes simulated EMR use, HIPAA compliance, and hands-on experience with patient intake, scheduling, and documentation.
