SOC128 School Violence: Causes and Consequences
This course will study the problem of school violence, its causation and cures. The areas of focus will include: school violence that stems in large part from individual idiosyncratic personality traits, school violence that can be best understood in terms of societal structure, and school violence that can be traced to gang activity. Solutions and programs that have been attempted to fight this problem nationwide and in Massachusetts in particular, will be presented and evaluated. Fulfills open, liberal arts, social science, and behavioral science electives.
